Bonnie Cook of the Inquirer reports on our efforts to encourage Montgomery County residents to use our online dog license registration services:
The Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office has set up a website that allows dog owners to apply, print and pay for their 2012 dog licenses online.
Payment is by credit card or online check. The license will be snail-mailed within three days.
The cost for an annual spayed/neutered license is $6.45. If you choose to pay via the Internet, $2.00 per license is added.
Montgomery County Treasurer Jason Salus said today he would like to see all dog owners obtain the proper licensing. Cats are not affected.
“We want to make sure that Montgomery County is a healthy place for our pets to call home. Getting your dog licensed will help us ensure that canines from Conshohocken to Cheltenham, and puppies from Pottstown to Perkiomenville, will have a safe environment to live and play,” Salus said.
Dogs three months or older must be licensed each year. Failure to do so could result in a $500 fine.
The county also has walk-in places that will license your dog, including the county SPCA in Conshy, Lower Merion police, Rau Animal Hospital in Glenside, Limerick Veterinary Hospital in Limerick, Open Line in Pennsburg, at the Upper Merion Twp. building, and at Pottstown Roller Mills in Pottstown.
